91.9 WFPK Radio Louisville is proud to partner with World Cafe to highlight the Louisville music scene on the nationally syndicated program. Sense of Place: Louisville will air on 91.9 WFPK at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20th. World Cafe is broadcast on more than 200 stations across the country through NPR Music and more than 500,000 listeners tune into the program each week.
The Sense of Place series gives listeners an idea of the past and present of the local music scene for cities across the globe and pointers for musicians or music-lovers planning a visit. Previous editions of Sense of Place have explored such musical hotbeds as Nashville, Brazil and Argentina, New Orleans, Dublin, Toronto, Portland and others.
"From the city's great musical ambassadors, My Morning Jacket, and from my many visits there I knew that some great music has come out of Louisville. I discovered so much more thanks to the folks at WFPK. This is going to be a super show," commented World Cafe host David Dye.
Highlights from February 20th program include:
- David Dye interview with WFPK on-air host Laura Shine about her 5 picks for interesting up and comers on the current Louisville scene.
- WFPK on-air host John Timmons shares his 5 picks for noteworthy artists that comprise the history of Louisville music.
- Louisville-based musician Cheyenne Mize will be the featured artist interview and live performance.
- Louisville music selections chosen by David Dye.
