WFPK Waterfront Wednesday Concert Series Launches April 23 with Moon Taxi, The Apache Relay and House Ghost

91.9 WFPK announces the launch of Louisville's favorite concert series on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. The WFPK Waterfront Wednesday® Concert Series is a free monthly concert on the Big Four Lawn in Louisville Waterfront Park, located next to the newly opened Big Four Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge.

The first installment of the summer series will feature Moon Taxi, The Apache Relay and Louisville's own, House Ghost. The season will also feature Spanish Gold and Broken Spurs in May and Old 97's and The Whigs in June. More announcements will be made as concert dates approach. Visit wfpk.org for the most updated information.

The concerts take place on select Wednesdays of every month, April through September. Dates for the 2014 season are April 23, May 28, June 25, July 30, August 27, and September 17. The Big Four Lawn "opens" at 5pm, and the music begins promptly at 6pm.

We're bringing Moon Taxi back to Louisville following their sold-out show at Headliners Music Hall in February. The group will perform in support of their third album, Mountains Beaches Cities. Founded in 2006, the band has been selling out venues across the country and has performed in some of the nation's leading music festivals including Bonnaroo, Forecastle, and Lollapalooza.

The Apache Relay, Nashville-based folk rockers, gained in popularity after touring with Mumford and Sons. What began as an acoustic project has expanded to a six-member band on the cusp of releasing their new self-titled album due outin late April.

The show will open with the engaging pop/rock of Louisville's own House Ghost.

April's Waterfront Wednesday is made possible by the generous support of Goose Island Brewing Company and  The MINI Cooper dealership, MINI of Louisville.

Special thanks to Friends of the Waterfront.
