New Station Manager Named for WUOL

Louisville Public Media has announced the appointment of Daniel Gilliam, a musician, composer and radio host, as the new station manager of Classical 90.5, WUOL-FM.“Our listeners, through the recent membership drive, agree that Louisville needs to have Classical 90.5,” says Gilliam, “and it is my goal to ensure that we continue to grow and flourish, offering our listeners quality programming 24 hours a day.”As many classical radio stations disappear across the country, Gilliam says he plans to revitalize and reinvigorate WUOL-FM by increasing its presence in the community and strengthening its relationships with local arts organizations. He also plans to conduct a thorough review of the station’s programming.A Louisville native, Gilliam is a graduate of the Brown School and Manual/YPAS, and holds degrees in music composition from Samford University and the University of Kansas. Gilliam has been commissioned by performing groups such as the Louisville Youth Choir and the Turin Philharmonic Orchestra, and has received performances throughout the U.S. and Europe. Current projects include a recital of his songs and other American composers, and a concerto for organ and strings to be premiered in late 2009. Gilliam also serves in the Kentucky Air National Guard.Gilliam replaces Alan Brandt, who will assume new duties in the organization as Senior Staff Announcer. For more information, please contact LPM President Donovan Reynolds at (502) 814-6500.
