WFPK Winter Fundraiser: The Del McCoury Band and Trampled By Turtles

91.9 WFPK is proud to present The Del McCoury Band and Trampled By Turtles on Saturday, February 27th at 8pm at Headliners Music Hall. This is a rare opportunity to catch Del and the boys in a general admission club environment. Bluegrass concerts are fun, but this is going to be a party! It has been 10 years since the Grammy Award Winning Del McCoury Band has played a nightclub stage in Louisville and they are ready to tear it up. After performing a 2005 Waterfront Wednesday/Katrina Fundraiser and a 2009 members-only concert in support of their new release “Celebrating 50 Years”, both the band and the station have come to realize our kindred spirit. This is their (and your) chance to show continued support of WFPK.“2009 was a great year for string music of all kinds,” says WFPK Program Director Stacy Owen. “Hosting a show with the reigning prince of Bluegrass and a recognized champion of FPK favorites like Old Crow and the Avetts is a wonderful way to kick off 2010.”Opening the show is Duluth, MN’s Trampled by Turtles. These upstarts join the growing ranks of young string bands that turned off their amps and put a punk/alt-country spin on Bluegrass. Touring in support of their newest release “Duluth”, Trampled by Turtles will bring the right energy to kick off the night.Tickets for The Del McCoury Band and Trampled by Turtles are on sale now at www.ticketmaster.com, all TM outlets or charge by phone at (866) 448-7849.
