89.3 WFPL Explores Local Politics, Policies and New Perspectives in “Noise & Notes” with Phillip M. Bailey
89.3 WFPL News -- Louisville’s nonprofit, independent news source -- has announced that Political Editor Phillip M. Bailey will begin a weekly radio broadcast of “Noise & Notes” on Saturday, June 23, from 10:00-10:30 p.m.
What began as a news blog more than a year ago and evolved into a weekly podcast is now a weekly radio show. “Noise & Notes” is a relaxed conversation on issues of importance to Louisville, from the news of the day to broader discussions on policy, politics and politicians.
"This isn't an interview show," says Bailey, who has been producing “Noise & Notes” as a weekly podcast for about two months." You'll hear the sort of candid conversations I have with my colleagues and friends. I'd like to pass the microphone to folks who have different perspectives and insights on local politics than we're accustomed to hearing."
Each week, Bailey will speak with different guests, from politicians and newsmakers to fellow reporters and community members.
The premiere episode will feature a conversation about the personal side of violence in west Louisville with Shawn Gardner, author of Me vs. Me: The Struggle Within.
"This isn't what you'll hear in a regular news report," says WFPL News Director Gabe Bullard. "It's also not the typical punditry that dominates too many political talk shows."
“Noise & Notes” will air on Saturdays at 10 p.m. following “The Tavis Smiley Show” (9-10 p.m.).
